Terms of service

1. Provider and scope

Estimated Tax Planner (https://tax.relaystudio.org) is provided by Mathias Gort, MSc, Relay Studio, Badidastraße 81, 6811 Göfis, Austria. These terms apply to use with and without an account.

2. Service

The service calculates United States federal estimated income tax for the tax year shown, using the figures published by the IRS for that year: income tax with the capital gains rates, self-employment tax, Additional Medicare Tax, net investment income tax, the qualified business income deduction, the senior deduction, the child tax credit and the credit for other dependents. From this it works out the required annual payment under the safe harbor rules and the four installments of the regular method.

Not covered: state and local tax, the alternative minimum tax, the annualized income installment method, the special rules for farmers and fishermen, credits other than those listed, and the details of each deduction. The result is an estimate based on the figures you enter. It is not tax advice and does not replace a review by a tax professional.

3. Plans and limits

Without an account: 1 saved client. Free account: 5 saved clients. Paid plans: the number of saved clients stated at purchase. Client letters and the CSV schedule are part of the paid plans; the calculator and the calendar file can be used on every plan.

Prices are monthly. As a small business under § 6 (1) 27 UStG (Austria) we charge no VAT.

4. Payment, term, cancellation

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew for one month at a time. You can cancel at any time in your account (Manage plan) with effect from the end of the current month. Plan changes take effect immediately and are prorated by Stripe.

5. Right of withdrawal for consumers

Consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the contract date. An email to support@relaystudio.org is enough. Access starts immediately after payment at your express request. If you agreed to this at checkout and confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal, the right ends when the service begins (§ 18 (1) 11 FAGG). Without that agreement we refund the share for the unused time on withdrawal.

6. Acceptable use

Only upload or enter data you are allowed to process. Automated bulk requests, circumventing the limits and attacks on the service are prohibited; we may suspend access on violation.

7. Availability and liability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee a specific level. We are liable without limit for intent, gross negligence and personal injury. For slight negligence we are not liable to businesses; to consumers only for breach of essential obligations and limited to foreseeable damage. Towards businesses, liability is in any case limited to the fees paid in the last 12 months.

8. Changes

We notify customers on a paid plan of changes to these terms or prices by email at least 30 days in advance. You may cancel before they take effect.

9. Law and venue

Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Venue for businesses is Feldkirch, Austria.
